The day began as we were greeted by the evangelism team from the Centenario Church. We laid out the clothes and gifts that we brought to Pastor Walter and they will be used as Christmas presents so that is great. We gave a soccer ball to Samuel, the youngest son of Pastor Victor; however it didn’t take long for it to roll out into the street and you guessed it run over by a car. I wasn’t there but it caught quite a few people’s attention as it blew up like a shot being fired! Lynn shares the story that five men showed up right away on the street with shotguns in hand!!!
So now that we made our presence felt in the community we were broken up into groups with people from the church. I went with Pastor Walter and the pastor from the community we were visiting. We first met with Rutulio, a grandfather who was bed ridden as he has lost part of his foot. The pastors introduce me as being from Canada and ask if the family or individual would like to hear my testimony. Following that, they share the Good News and give them an opportunity to respond. At each home we are also given the opportunity if they want to pray over them and it was a real blessing to do this. Well, Rutulio did respond and prayed to receive Christ. In his home there are nine children who are without a father which is very sad, but the pastor there will follow up.
We also visited with a believer’s family and then went to minister to a lady named Irene who trusted Christ as well as another home where one lady’s daughter, Nancy also prayed to receive Jesus. We then stopped in with a man who had a woodworking business, Alberto, and it was just great to see a man teaching and mentoring young men a life skill and providing them with work. Alberto asked Christ into his heart as well. Sharron went with Ligia and they also saw a couple people come to know the Lord as did Lucie with Pastor Victor and Lynn with Tatiana.
Anita made us a wonderful lunch that included rice, pasta and chicken at our home and then it was time for a siesta before we headed back out on the streets of Centenario this afternoon. I walked with Pastor Gustavo and we spoke with a Catholic woman, Blanca, who understood the gospel, but yet wasn’t ready so we reached out to a man named Manuel who did open his heart to the Lord. We met with a believer in the park, Fidela and then spoke briefly with Felix, who was cleaning the park and took the testimony and gospel tract with him. Sharron went out and ministered with Anita and they saw four people come to know the Lord as did Lynn who went with Tatiana door to door and spoke with taxi drivers as well. Lucie and Pastor Victor ministered to an older lady, Olga, who requested prayer for her health.
