My last blog wasn’t the end of day 1 as we were treated by...who else...Carlos, to chicken schwarmas at a stop along our way back. We then swung by the church and caught the tail end of a wedding that Pastor Victor had officiated...Lucie and I crashed it by learning a small greeting to congratulate the bride and groom and get our picture with them!! OK, now it’s really time for us to crash and go to sleep...after midnight now...buenos noches
This morning we were picked up for breakfast at 8am. Sharron had been complaining about a headache thus we were treated to 'Ceviche' – a traditional breakfast soup with cooked fish (picudo), cilantro, red onion... apparently they eat this after they get drunk...not that we were, but apparently it is great if you have a headache.
I have also been told numerous times that I look like a famous singer down here...Marcos Witt...so call me Marcos...I saw the video..see the similarity, the sideburns help!
We were treated to two services this morning as Pastor Victor spoke at the first one and Pastor Gustavo at the second service. At the first service I shared my whole testimony which went too long and by the second service I had it down that less is more when you butcher their language....lol. I introduced my three amigos and Lynn, Lucie, and Sharron along with myself were all front row. So the worship was rocking with many familiar English songs in Spanish... Trading My Sorrows, King of Majesty, Open The Eyes of My Corazon and even some Third Day...who is this King of Glory. It was latino, passionate and full of life and after 3 services now, I am serviced out!...testimonio keeps getting better with practice though. The messages this morning were on the mandate to share the good news, to be willing to GO and enthusiastic about all that God does and all that He does in us through Christ.
We went to lunch to a great Ecuadorian restaurante...Avocate and there are always large portions of meat, beans, rice here. After lunch, Pastor Walter took me along with Katherine, Wendy and Yvonne to the Alliance Seminary here where he studied and another church to bring greetings to another local pastor. We then of course had to stop for ice cream dipped in chocolate and then it was back to the church for prayer meeting at 5pm. I was given the opportunity to pray over the pastoral team, Walter, Victor and his wife and Gustavo.
In the evening service, Pastor Anita shared from Mark 5 on the symptoms of oppression and the pathway to freedom in Christ.
Now its time to go find my three amigos who skipped out of the evening service to grab some r and r before we discover where we will go next.
Tomorrow we will start sharing our testimony to various places in the community and on Tuesday we will be visiting the AIDS hospital.
Peace out from Guayaquil..day 2
