So the day started as Pastor Walter picked me up to do visitation ministry with him while the ladies went to the market. Our first visit was to the home of Isabelle Al Civvar, 86, who shared her memories of being here when she used to be the one doing evangelism door to door and when the Centenario Church met in a house. We prayed for her children who are not walking with the Lord and for her health as well. She spoke perfect english because she lived in the States as well. From there we visited a lady by the name of Aracelly who recently had surgery to remove a large benign tumor. I asked her husband to share his testimony with me and it was his wife's faith that spoke to him being Catholic. There is always food wherever you go and this time it was fresh mango juice, grapes, pear, peaches...
At lunch I asked Pastor Walter who was taking us to the airport on Sunday and he told me that I should confirm the flight. Well it turns out that our itinerary was wrong and our flight leaves Monday not Sunday...always good to check things out for sure.
In the afternoon we visited a boys and girls club much like our God's Girls and King's Sons on the southside of Guayaquil and there they minister in a very poor neighbourhood teaching the children songs, memory verses and stories from the Bible...the little place was packed out. We shared our testimonies with each of the three age groups and then it was time to serve them buns and sweet milk. Another photo shoot ensued afterwards as everyone is quite excited to take pictures with us.
We then zipped back to our place to prepare our Canadian fiesta and we had a hearty spaghetti made by Sharron, Lynn and Lucie along with garlic bread and a caesar salad to boot. I was in charge of stringing lights and putting up our decorations...and now it was their turn not to be able to finish off our large servings :) They did seem to really appreciate it.
At 10:30pm Pastor Walter showed up and it was time to play soccer. We went to an enclosed field with artificial turf and it was game on. Teams took turns playing 7 to a side and I shocked myself as well as my hombres by scoring 4 goals tonight. It was a blast...took a few kicks to the shins but hey, I bodychecked a few guys as well!! Around midnight they let me know that I'm going to preach to the youth at the Saturday night service...We wrapped up playing under the lights around 1am....time for some serious siesta!!
