A Rock In A Hard Place!

Today I led the prayer time in Rick's absence as he had to travel to San Diego to pick up supplies. I encouraged the team to pray through the Scriptures as prayers and then we were off to pour another couple of floors for houses that will soon be built in the weeks to come. However, our first site was an exercise in patience because as we arrived we realized that there was still work to do to level the ground. However, what we didn't realize is how big the obstacle would become as we dealt with some pretty massive rocks that were completely in the way of leveling the ground. So, being the jack of all trades, I got in there with a pick axe and did my part to break the rock away. After taking a fair amount of jolts to the arms and blisters to the hands, we needed to bring in some power tools! Sami and Faustino stayed on site to finish the work as the rest of us took to another site that was ready to pour concrete. So, by mid-afternoon we were making progress and completed the other floor by 5:30pm. You definitely work up a great appetite...you can only eat so much dust. The families are always ready with 3 liter bottles of cold coke for us to give us more energy.

After we were done work, Jordan and Jon, Rick's son, wasted no time getting their TSN updates on the free agent frenzy. All our kids continue to get along so well and that is a real blessing.

Psalm 144

1 Praise the Lord, who is my rock.
He trains my hands for war
and gives my fingers skill for battle.
2 He is my loving ally and my fortress,
my tower of safety, my rescuer.
He is my shield, and I take refuge in him.

As I reflected here this morning, I am reminded of the invisible war that God has called us all to fight, the fight that is fought on our knees is prayer for the lives of both people and families who desperately need to know that God is their loving ally, their fortress, their tower of safety. We will build homes to protect people and families from the elements, but I am reminded of the prayers to our LORD that keep homes strong.

We have been introducing the Romanos to our singing version of prayers at meal time and together we shake the love around!!
